Innkeeper Winifred Ledford's great grandfather, Winfield Scott
Boynton, was sheriff of El Paso County (before Teller County was
formed) between 1894 to 1897 when Labor Wars pitted miners
against mine owners. He and his brother Frank and their families
were builders and merchants in
Cripple Creek from around 1890 to
1915.
