A real Colorado Experience awaits you - dare to find the real
Colorado Rockies!
The great outdoors has never been better nor easier to
experience - from the luxury of your Carr Manor lodging, you can
venture into the great wilds for the day. Horseback rides,
fishing, hiking, rock climbing, rafting and hunting are all
minutes away.
Fishing
There are many fine streams and lakes in the area to fish, all
within a one-hour drive from Cripple Creek. All are cold water
areas with a wide variety of trout species and northern pike.
Florissant Fossil Beds
Beneath a grassy mountain valley in central Colorado lies one of
the richest and most diverse fossil deposits in the world.
Petrified redwood stumps up to 14 feet wide and thousands of
detailed fossils of insects and plants reveal the story of a
very different, prehistoric Colorado.
Golfing in the Colorado Springs Area
There is nothing like golfing in the great Colorado sunshine.
Hiking
Thousands of folks struck with gold fever made their way into
the area on the southwest side of Pikes Peak in the 1890s. Most
of them walked or rode horses. Their goal was to reach the
Cripple Creek Mining District, where newly found gold was
bringing promises of easy-found wealth.
The Trails of Gold is a series of trails that lead you through
the wealth of gold mining that made Victor and Cripple Creek
famous.
Horseback Riding
Hundreds of miles of trails in the Pike National Forest are open
to horses. Mueller State Park has
horse-friendly trails. Grey Wolf Ranch invites you to taste,
touch and feel our unique and authentic Colorado ranch
experience. Enter the gates at Grey Wolf Ranch and begin an
outdoor journey that will surely be remembered for a lifetime.
Hot Air Balloon Flights
At the highest flight levels, snowcapped mountains, rivers and
high plains are visible for over 100 miles in all directions.
Floating lower over the foothills and ranch land you will often
see deer, coyotes, jack rabbits, and even pronghorn antelope,
animals that are normally too shy to let you approach when you
are walking on the ground.
Hunting
Elk, mule deer and bighorn sheep are year-round residents.
Seasons are set for smaller game as well and for less-plentiful
animals such as mountain lions and black bear. Many public lands
are open to hunting, and local outfitters can assist or guide
hunters looking for that perfect spot.
Mountain
Biking
On the Trails of Gold in nearby Pike National Forest, there are
plenty of trails to explore.
River Rafting
We've put together this list of Arkansas River Rafting
Outfitters to help you plan your Arkansas River rafting trip. To

Rock
Climbing
Shelf Road Recreation Area - Climbers come from around the world
to scale these limestone walls. The climbs are short but very
difficult with few handholds and many overhangs. Several back
roads near the climbing area provide opportunities for hiking
and mountain biking.
